Many libraries take advantage of Shared Resources that are managed by the Montana State Library – the MT Shared Catalog, MontanaLibrary2Go, and the Courier service are all common throughout the State. However, the costs of these programs are shouldered by the individual libraries. Despite being cost-effective, they still come at a sometimes significant cost to local communities.
Still, many libraries, particularly in rural communities, do not have the budgets to participate in these programs. This legislation will expand and improve existing services, creating opportunities for new library services for all.
